Help Your Child to Read and Write is a program for parents with children of elementary school age. The program helps parents build their children's confidence and supports reading and writing in the home.
- Parents meet with a workshop leader once a week for 6-8 weeks
- Parents look at their children's strengths and abilities
- They use good quality children's books to practice strategies for making meaning from print
- They review writing skills, comprehension strategies and study skills

- Parents’ and children’s confidence levels increase significantly
- Parents report that working with their children is more relaxed and productive
- Everyone in the home reads more
- Parents and the school become a team in their children’s learning
